Inconel MA758 Material Properties Overview

As a leading supplier and manufacturer in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective inconel MA758 products.

Inconel MA758 is an oxide dispersion strengthened nickel chromium superalloy produced by mechanical alloying. It contains a nickel rich matrix with about 30 percent chromium and finely dispersed yttrium oxide Y2O3, together with minor additions of titanium, aluminum, carbon and iron. Chromium supports oxidation and corrosion resistance, while the stable oxide particles strengthen the matrix by impeding dislocation movement and limiting microstructural change at elevated temperature. This combination provides high tensile and yield strength, creep resistance, thermal stability and dimensional stability. In its fully recrystallized condition, the alloy can be machined by procedures similar to those used for solution annealed nickel alloys, and it can be hot formed under qualified conditions.

Inconel MA758 is selected when a nickel based material must retain strength, resist oxidation and limit deformation during prolonged exposure to elevated temperature.

Arialloy supplies inconel MA758 in bar, rod, sheet, plate, strip, wire and other forms subject to grade, dimensions, material condition and order requirements. We support chemical analysis, positive material identification, mechanical testing, dimensional inspection, mill test reports and third party inspection.

Inconel MA758 Corrosion Resistance

Inconel MA758 provides strong resistance to oxidation and high temperature corrosion because its chromium rich surface forms a protective oxide scale. The nickel chromium matrix also supports resistance in oxidizing atmospheres, while the dispersed yttrium oxide can improve scale adhesion and help limit rapid surface degradation during thermal cycling.

Its corrosion performance depends on temperature, gas chemistry, oxygen potential, contaminants, exposure time, surface condition and thermal history. Product form, grain structure and fabrication route can also affect results, so final suitability should be confirmed using test data for the specified condition.

Inconel MA758 Mechanical Properties

In the room temperature condition, inconel MA758 combines high tensile and yield strength with useful ductility. Typical data show tensile strength near 949 to 1030 MPa, 0.2 percent yield strength near 560 to 690 MPa, and elongation of 14 to 27 percent. The oxide dispersion supports creep resistance and dimensional stability under sustained loading.

Inconel MA758 Temperature Characteristics

Inconel MA758 retains useful strength and oxidation resistance at temperatures approaching 1260°C (2300°F) in air, subject to atmosphere, stress, section size and exposure time. Its high chromium content supports formation of a protective oxide scale, while the stable yttrium oxide dispersion restricts dislocation movement, grain boundary deformation and microstructural coarsening during prolonged heating.

Available data show retained tensile and yield strength at about 982°C (1800°F) and 1093°C (2000°F), although both strength and ductility decrease as temperature rises. The melting point is approximately 1375°C (2507°F), and thermal expansion increases progressively with temperature.
