Incoloy DS Chemical Composition
Incoloy DS Material Properties Overview
As a leading supplier and manufacturer in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective Incoloy DS products. Incoloy DS (W.Nr. 1.4862) is an austenitic nickel iron chromium alloy containing about 2% silicon, combining high temperature corrosion resistance, useful mechanical strength and strong structural stability during prolonged thermal exposure.
Chromium and silicon promote the formation of a tightly adherent protective oxide layer, improving resistance to oxidation, scaling, carburization and the selective oxidation phenomenon known as green rot. Nickel stabilizes the austenitic structure and helps suppress sigma phase embrittlement during extended exposure from about 600°C to 900°C. The relatively high nickel content also helps preserve austenitic stability during repeated thermal cycling, while the silicon addition strengthens the protective scale response in carburizing and oxidizing atmospheres.
The alloy retains good tensile strength and ductility through a broad temperature range, while its creep and rupture behavior supports long duration thermal service. Its strongest property balance is in elevated temperature environments, where oxidation resistance, carburization resistance and metallurgical stability are more important than broad aqueous chemical corrosion resistance.
Arialloy recommends incoloy DS for buyers who prioritize long term high temperature stability, protective scale retention and reliable mechanical performance under repeated or sustained heating.
Incoloy DS Corrosion Resistance
Incoloy DS develops a tightly adherent oxide layer that protects the surface from high temperature corrosion and limits progressive metal loss. Its chromium and silicon content provides strong resistance to oxidation, scaling and carburization, including atmospheres that alternate between oxidizing and reducing conditions.
The alloy also resists green rot, a selective oxidation mechanism associated with chromium depletion in nickel chromium materials. This protective behavior gives incoloy DS particularly stable surface performance during prolonged thermal exposure and repeated changes in furnace atmosphere.
Incoloy DS Mechanical Properties
Incoloy DS combines useful strength with high ductility in its austenitic structure. At room temperature, tensile data show about 363 MPa 0.2% proof strength, about 687 MPa tensile strength and about 37% elongation for sheet material.
The alloy maintains substantial tensile strength as temperature rises and retains good deformation capacity, helping it tolerate thermal movement without rapid embrittlement. Its mechanical profile also includes good impact toughness and useful creep and rupture strength for long duration exposure at elevated temperatures.
Incoloy DS Temperature Characteristics
Incoloy DS is distinguished by strong thermal stability and resistance to high temperature oxidation. Nickel maintains a stable austenitic structure and suppresses sigma phase embrittlement through the 600°C to 900°C range. Chromium and silicon support a persistent protective oxide scale and strong carburization resistance during prolonged heating.
The alloy also shows useful creep and rupture strength at elevated temperatures and good cyclic oxidation behavior. Its oxidation resistance in air extends to about 1100°C, making temperature performance one of the strongest characteristics of incoloy DS.

A change in the price of a major alloying metal can affect the cost of the finished alloy. For incoloy ds and other superalloys, nickel, chromium, iron, and silicon, and related metallic inputs contribute substantially to pricing, so their market movements can influence the final quotation.
The raw incoloy ds material is produced through our own smelting process. Our factory has more than 30 vacuum and electroslag remelting furnaces, and the available capacities allow us to select the right equipment for each order. This capability is what makes smaller MOQs possible for our customers.
We issue the incoloy ds material test report before release for shipment. It provides traceable records of the applicable standard, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number, confirming material compliance.
Our incoloy ds manufacturing controls include material ratio management and chemical composition monitoring during smelting. Finished material is subjected to PMI testing, and additional chemical analysis can be conducted by an independent laboratory upon request.
