Incoloy 800HT Material Properties Overview

As a nickel alloy manufacturer and supplier in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective incoloy 800HT products.

Incoloy 800HT (UNS N08811 / W.Nr. 1.4959) is an austenitic nickel, iron and chromium alloy that combines resistance to elevated temperature corrosion with enhanced creep and stress rupture strength. Its composition includes 30.0 to 35.0% nickel and 19.0 to 23.0% chromium. Nickel stabilizes the austenitic structure, while chromium promotes a protective surface oxide. Carbon is restricted to 0.06 to 0.10%, and the combined aluminum and titanium content is 0.85 to 1.20%. These composition limits distinguish incoloy 800HT from incoloy 800H and contribute to improved strength under sustained loading at elevated temperatures.

The alloy requires solution annealing at a minimum of 1149°C (2100°F) and an average grain size of ASTM 5 or coarser. This material condition supports its resistance to creep. Conventional hot forming, cold forming and machining methods can be used, although work hardening must be considered during fabrication. Welding requires filler metal selection that accounts for the intended temperature and joint properties.

Its principal advantage over incoloy 800 is stronger resistance to creep during prolonged heating. Composition, grain size and heat treatment should therefore be reviewed together when specifying or comparing incoloy 800HT products.

Incoloy 800HT Corrosion Resistance

Incoloy 800HT offers good resistance to oxidation, carburization and many atmospheres containing sulfur at elevated temperatures. Chromium promotes a protective oxide film, while nickel contributes to resistance against carbon absorption. This film helps maintain protection during repeated heating and cooling.

The alloy also resists chloride stress corrosion cracking. However, its carbon content and thermal history can increase susceptibility to intergranular corrosion in certain aqueous environments. Corrosion performance therefore depends on temperature, gas composition, exposure time, surface condition and whether corrosive liquids or condensates are present.

Incoloy 800HT Mechanical Properties

In the solution annealed condition, incoloy 800HT combines moderate room temperature strength with good ductility. Published values for selected wrought products include tensile strength of 450 to 700 MPa, a minimum 0.2% proof strength of 170 MPa, and elongation of at least 30%. Its main mechanical advantage is resistance to creep and stress rupture during prolonged heating.

Actual acceptance requirements depend on product form, dimensions, heat treatment, specimen orientation and the governing material specification.

Incoloy 800HT Temperature Characteristics

Incoloy 800HT provides strong resistance to creep and stress rupture, particularly above 700°C (1292°F). Oxidation resistance can extend to approximately 1100°C (2012°F) in air, although allowable operating temperatures depend on stress, atmosphere and exposure duration. Prolonged exposure around 600 to 700°C (1112 to 1292°F) can promote gamma prime precipitation and reduce ductility.

Thermal conductivity and expansion increase with temperature, while elastic modulus decreases, influencing dimensional changes and mechanical response during heating. The practical temperature limit must also account for required service life and permissible deformation.

If you would like to order incoloy 800ht, email your requirements to sales@arialloy.com or complete the inquiry form at the bottom of this page. Our sales team will prepare a detailed offer based on your request. After you confirm the offer, send us your PO. We will issue a PI, and production will begin following receipt of the prepayment. We will notify you when your materials are ready.

We strive to provide an incoloy 800ht quote within 24 hours of receiving your inquiry. If we are unable to quote because of missing information or other limitations, we will let you know promptly.

Our incoloy 800ht quotation is generally FOB, with the buyer normally responsible for designating the forwarder. We will assist the forwarder with the necessary local operations to ensure the shipment can proceed smoothly. If desired, we can arrange the transportation ourselves and calculate the corresponding freight cost.

Incoloy 800HT pricing reflects, in part, the cost of its metallic raw materials. When key metals such as nickel, iron, and chromium experience market fluctuations, those changes can work their way into the cost of producing and supplying the alloy.

Our incoloy 800ht material is smelted at our factory rather than being purchased from an outside source. We operate over 30 furnaces for vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting, with capacities of 50 kg, 200 kg, 1,000 kg, and 5,000 kg. This allows us to accommodate different production volumes, including smaller orders.

We issue the incoloy 800ht MTR before delivery in accordance with relevant industry standards. The report contains the material specification, chemical analysis, mechanical test data, dimensions, and heat identification.

We manage the incoloy 800ht material blend during smelting and perform chemical analyses to monitor the alloy composition. After manufacturing, PMI testing is used to check the finished material, with third-party laboratory testing available for additional confirmation.
