Incoloy 800H Material Properties Overview

As a manufacturer and supplier in China, Arialloy supplies incoloy 800H products at competitive prices.

Incoloy 800H (UNS N08810 / W.Nr. 1.4958) is an austenitic iron, nickel and chromium alloy combining resistance to high temperature corrosion with enhanced creep strength. Its composition contains 30.0 to 35.0% nickel and 19.0 to 23.0% chromium, with iron forming the balance. Nickel stabilizes the austenitic structure, while chromium supports a protective surface oxide. A carbon range of 0.05 to 0.10% distinguishes incoloy 800H from standard incoloy 800. Solution annealing produces an average grain size of ASTM No. 5 or coarser. Together, the specified carbon content and coarse grain structure improve resistance to creep deformation and stress rupture during extended exposure to elevated temperatures. Aluminum and titanium additions also influence precipitation behavior and mechanical stability during prolonged exposure to heat.

The alloy can be formed and welded using conventional methods suitable for austenitic alloys. Welding consumables should be selected according to service temperature and joint properties. Suitable options include inconel filler metal 82 for moderate temperature conditions and inconel filler metal 617 when greater strength at elevated temperatures is required.

Incoloy 800H Corrosion Resistance

Incoloy 800H resists oxidation, carburization and many nitriding atmospheres. Chromium promotes a protective oxide layer, while nickel helps maintain oxidation resistance during thermal cycling. The alloy also offers useful resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Exposure to approximately 540°C to 760°C can cause sensitization, increasing susceptibility to intergranular corrosion in certain aqueous environments. This is particularly relevant after welding or extended exposure to heat. Performance therefore depends on temperature, exposure history and medium composition, particularly when the material encounters corrosive condensates or aggressive cleaning solutions.

Incoloy 800H Mechanical Properties

Solution annealed incoloy 800H plate and bar can be supplied with room temperature tensile strength of 450 to 700 MPa, minimum 0.2% proof strength of 170 MPa, and minimum elongation of 30%, subject to specification and dimensional limits. Cold working increases strength and hardness while reducing ductility. The annealed structure also permits substantial deformation before intermediate annealing.

These values describe specified material conditions. Acceptance requirements must follow the ordered product standard, dimensions, heat treatment and test orientation.

Incoloy 800H Temperature Characteristics

Incoloy 800H offers improved creep and stress rupture strength above approximately 600°C compared with standard incoloy 800. A representative elevated temperature service range is 600°C to 950°C. Its austenitic structure provides good stability during prolonged thermal exposure, while carbon content and grain size support resistance to deformation under sustained loading. Permissible operating temperature depends on stress, exposure duration, atmosphere and applicable code requirements.

Oxidation test temperatures should not be interpreted as continuous load bearing limits, since oxidation resistance and creep resistance describe different performance characteristics.

If you prefer a more streamlined service, we can also organize transportation and provide a separate freight quotation.

Because the composition of an alloy involves several metals, changes in individual metal prices can affect the overall material cost. nickel, iron, and chromium are particularly important in superalloy pricing, making their market movements an important reason for alloy price changes.

We produce the incoloy 800h melt internally using our own furnace equipment. There are more than 30 vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting furnaces at our facility, with capacities from 50 kg to 5,000 kg. This range is particularly useful for customers who do not require large quantities.

Yes, the required incoloy 800h material test report is supplied prior to shipment. It provides traceable information on the applicable standard, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number.

Our incoloy 800h quality checks cover both production and final inspection. Material ratios are controlled during smelting, chemical analysis tracks composition, and PMI testing is performed on completed products. Independent laboratory analysis can be added for further verification.
