Incoloy 926 Material Properties Overview
As a leading supplier and manufacturer in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective incoloy 926 products.
Incoloy 926 (UNS N08926, W.Nr. 1.4529), also known as alloy 926, is a fully austenitic iron nickel chromium molybdenum copper nitrogen alloy developed from 904L. Its 24 to 26% nickel and 19 to 21% chromium support a stable passive surface, while 6 to 7% molybdenum and 0.15 to 0.25% nitrogen substantially improve resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride induced stress corrosion cracking. Copper strengthens resistance in reducing acids, and the low carbon content helps limit intergranular corrosion after fabrication and welding. The balanced chemistry also provides useful strength, ductility, toughness, and weldability over a broad temperature range.
Compared with conventional austenitic stainless steels, its higher alloy content provides stronger localized corrosion resistance and better mechanical stability in demanding chloride environments without sacrificing ductility or fabrication capability. The fully austenitic structure has low magnetic permeability and good metallurgical stability. incoloy 926 can be solution annealed to restore corrosion resistance after forming, and its product forms include pipe, tube, sheet, plate, strip, bar, wire, forging stock, and fittings. Arialloy supplies incoloy 926 products in solution annealed condition, with dimensions, surface finishes, inspection documents, and applicable standards arranged according to order requirements.
Incoloy 926 Corrosion Resistance
Incoloy 926 resists general corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride induced stress corrosion cracking. Approximately 6.5% molybdenum and 0.2% nitrogen strengthen localized corrosion resistance, while nickel and chromium support stability in oxidizing and reducing media.
It resists diluted sulfuric and phosphoric acids contaminated with chlorides, as well as halide bearing media, salt solutions, and seawater. Copper improves resistance in reducing acids. Low carbon content and limited intermetallic precipitation help preserve corrosion resistance after forming and welding. A clean, passivated surface is required for optimum performance.
Incoloy 926 Mechanical Properties
In the solution annealed condition, incoloy 926 typically provides tensile strength from 650 to 800 MPa (94 to 116 ksi), 0.2% yield strength of at least 300 MPa (43.5 ksi), and elongation of 35 to 40% or higher. Nitrogen supports strength and toughness in the austenitic structure.
The alloy remains ductile and impact resistant at low temperature, with good toughness at room temperature and minus 196°C. Cold working increases strength but raises work hardening. Values vary with form and specification.
Incoloy 926 Temperature Characteristics
Incoloy 926 retains strength, toughness, and corrosion resistance from cryogenic conditions to moderate elevated temperatures. Pressure vessel approvals cover minus 196 to 400°C (minus 320 to 752°F). In solution annealed material, 0.2% yield strength is about 300 MPa at 20°C, 160 MPa at 400°C, and 105 MPa at 550°C.
Its melting range is 1320 to 1390°C (2408 to 2534°F). Solution annealing at 1150 to 1200°C, preferably near 1180°C, followed by rapid cooling restores structure and corrosion resistance. Exposure above the approved range requires design evaluation.

Raw material markets have a strong influence on the price of alloy products. Incoloy 926 contains several metallic elements, and fluctuations in important metals such as nickel, chromium, molybdenum, nitrogen, and copper can increase or decrease the cost of the finished alloy.
We produce the incoloy 926 material through our own melting facilities. More than 30 vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting furnaces are available at our plant, covering four batch capacities. This range of equipment is one of the reasons we can accept smaller minimum orders.
Yes, the incoloy 926 MTR is part of our pre-shipment documentation. It is prepared in line with applicable industry standards and provides chemistry, mechanical, dimensional, and heat number details.
The incoloy 926 smelting process is controlled through accurate material ratios and ongoing chemical analysis. After finishing, PMI testing is performed on the material, and a third party lab may be used for final chemical analysis when additional assurance is requested.
