Incoloy 945 Material Properties Overview

As a leading supplier and manufacturer in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective incoloy 945 products.

Incoloy 945 (UNS N09945) is a precipitation hardenable nickel, iron, chromium alloy containing Mo, Cu, Nb, Ti, and Al. Its high Ni content provides good resistance to chloride induced stress corrosion cracking, while Ni, Mo, and Cu work together to improve general corrosion resistance in reducing media. Cr strengthens resistance to oxidizing media, and Mo improves resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. Nb, Ti, and Al form fine γ′ and γ″ precipitates during aging, giving incoloy 945 high yield strength, tensile strength, hardness, and fatigue resistance while maintaining good ductility and impact toughness. In the annealed and aged condition, the alloy reaches a minimum yield strength of 862 MPa and a minimum tensile strength of 1034 MPa, while retaining good strength as temperature increases.

Its combination of corrosion resistance, high strength, fatigue resistance, and thermal stability defines the principal material properties of incoloy 945. Arialloy recommends incoloy 945 for customers seeking a strong combination of high mechanical strength, chloride corrosion resistance, and resistance to cracking in hydrogen sulfide containing environments.

Incoloy 945 Corrosion Resistance

Incoloy 945 offers excellent resistance to general corrosion, localized corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. Its high Ni content improves resistance to chloride induced stress corrosion cracking, while Ni works together with Mo and Cu to strengthen corrosion resistance in reducing media. Cr improves resistance to oxidizing media, and Mo further increases resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.

The alloy also provides strong resistance in environments containing chlorides and hydrogen sulfide, together with good resistance to sulfide stress cracking and hydrogen stress cracking. In ASTM G123 chloride stress corrosion testing, incoloy 945 showed no cracking after 720 hours, while its critical pitting temperature in ASTM G48 testing reached 50°C.

Incoloy 945 Mechanical Properties

Incoloy 945 develops high strength through the age hardening effects of Nb, Ti, and Al, which form fine and uniformly distributed γ′ and γ″ precipitates within the austenitic matrix. This strengthening mechanism gives the alloy high yield strength, tensile strength, hardness, and fatigue resistance.

In the annealed and aged condition, its minimum yield strength is 125 ksi, or 862 MPa, its minimum tensile strength is 150 ksi, or 1034 MPa, and its minimum elongation is 18%, with hardness ranging from 32 to 42 HRC. Typical round bar properties show yield strength of about 914 to 981 MPa and tensile strength of about 1163 to 1214 MPa, while retaining good ductility and impact toughness.

Incoloy 945 Temperature Characteristics

Incoloy 945 retains high mechanical strength as temperature increases. At approximately 232°C, its yield strength remains around 896 MPa, demonstrating good strength retention during thermal exposure. The elastic modulus is approximately 195 GPa at 23°C and changes gradually with increasing temperature.

Thermal conductivity increases from about 10.9 W/m·K at 23°C, while the coefficient of thermal expansion also rises progressively as temperature increases. The alloy has a melting range of approximately 1270°C to 1377°C. Its γ′ and γ″ precipitation strengthened structure contributes to microstructural stability and the retention of mechanical properties during thermal exposure.

The process starts when you send your incoloy 945 requirements to sales@arialloy.com or submit the form at the bottom of this page. We will review your needs and issue a detailed quotation. If you accept our offer, send your PO. We will then provide a PI for payment. After the prepayment is received, production will begin and we will notify you once the material is finished.

Our experienced sales team is available to process your incoloy 945 quotation request, usually within 24 hours. If your inquiry cannot be quoted or requires additional information, we will notify you promptly.

Our normal incoloy 945 quotation includes FOB terms. Accordingly, buyers generally select a freight forwarder to handle the onward transportation, while we cooperate with them on local matters. If requested, we can also take care of the shipping arrangement and check the applicable freight rate.

The pricing of incoloy 945 is closely related to the cost of its constituent metals. Key raw materials used in superalloys, including nickel, iron, chromium, molybdenum, and copper, can experience market fluctuations, and these changes can have a direct impact on alloy prices.

Our incoloy 945 is melted by our own factory team. The facility contains over 30 vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting furnaces, with capacities from 50 kg through 5,000 kg. This allows us to choose the appropriate production scale instead of limiting our orders to large batches.

We provide incoloy 945 material test reports before shipment to demonstrate that the supplied material meets the applicable requirements. The reports include the material standard, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number.

We monitor incoloy 945 chemistry at both the smelting and finished-product stages. Material proportions are controlled during melting, chemical analysis tracks composition, and PMI testing is conducted after production. Independent laboratory testing is available as an added verification step.
