Incoloy 803 Chemical Composition
Incoloy 803 Material Properties Overview
As a manufacturer and supplier in China, Arialloy supplies incoloy 803 products combining resistance to high temperature corrosion with dependable mechanical strength and competitive pricing.
Incoloy 803 (UNS S35045) is an austenitic iron, nickel, and chromium alloy containing 32.0% to 37.0% nickel and 25.0% to 29.0% chromium. Its nickel and chromium contents are higher than those of incoloy 800H and 800HT. The composition also includes carbon, aluminum, and titanium, which contribute to its metallurgical characteristics. This combination provides resistance to oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation while supporting strength under prolonged thermal exposure.
The alloy combines resistance to chemical attack by hot gases with good stress rupture properties. Its resistance to carbon penetration helps preserve mechanical performance in carburizing atmospheres, while resistance to cyclic oxidation supports durability through repeated heating and cooling. In the solution annealed condition, it offers a useful balance of strength and ductility across several product forms.
Incoloy 803 also has good weldability, comparable to that of incoloy 800H, and can be processed by hot forming and cold working. Available forms include pipe, tube, sheet, plate, strip, round bar, flat bar, wire, and forging stock.
Incoloy 803 Corrosion Resistance
Incoloy 803 provides strong resistance to oxidation, carburization, and sulfidation at elevated temperatures. Its chromium content promotes protective oxide formation, helping reduce surface attack in atmospheres containing oxidizing and carburizing gases. The alloy also resists cyclic oxidation during repeated heating and cooling.
Resistance to carbon penetration helps limit the deterioration of creep strength, stress rupture strength, and thermal fatigue resistance associated with carburization. The alloy demonstrates resistance to carburizing atmospheres across a range of oxygen potentials and also offers good resistance to stress corrosion cracking.
Incoloy 803 Mechanical Properties
Incoloy 803 combines mechanical strength with good ductility in the solution annealed condition. At room temperature, tubing typically exhibits tensile strengths of 586 to 627 MPa, yield strengths of 275 to 310 MPa, and elongations of 45% to 50%.
Solution annealed plate typically provides tensile strengths of 572 to 607 MPa and elongations of 43% to 47%. Alongside these tensile properties, the alloy offers resistance to creep and stress rupture under sustained loading at elevated temperatures.
Incoloy 803 Temperature Characteristics
Incoloy 803 combines heat resistance and mechanical strength in the approximate temperature range of 840°C to 1150°C. It offers good stress rupture strength together with resistance to oxidation and carburization. Resistance to cyclic oxidation further supports its performance during repeated heating and cooling.
The alloy has a melting range of approximately 1365°C to 1400°C. Its elastic modulus decreases as temperature rises, from approximately 195 GPa at room temperature to 132 GPa at 1000°C, while solution annealed material retains substantial tensile ductility at elevated temperatures.
