Incoloy 020 Material Properties Overview
As a leading supplier and manufacturer in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective incoloy 020 products.
Incoloy alloy 020 (UNS N08020, W.Nr. 2.4660), also known as alloy 20, is a low carbon, niobium stabilized, austenitic nickel iron chromium alloy containing copper and molybdenum. Nickel provides an austenitic structure, toughness and resistance to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking, while chromium supports passivity in oxidizing environments. Copper improves resistance in reducing acids, especially sulfuric acid, and molybdenum contributes to resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion. Niobium binds carbon and reduces chromium carbide precipitation during welding, helping preserve resistance to intergranular corrosion in welded areas.
The alloy combines corrosion resistance, strength, ductility and fabricability, and can be supplied in pipe, tube, sheet, plate, strip, bar, wire, forging and fitting forms. It is normally furnished in the annealed or stabilized annealed condition. incoloy alloy 020 can be hot formed, cold formed, machined and welded using established nickel alloy procedures. It is widely used for equipment and components exposed to sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, nitric acid, chloride bearing solutions and other aggressive chemical media, including chemical processing, pharmaceutical, food processing, pickling and pollution control service. Its balanced chemistry provides a practical alternative to higher nickel alloys when the operating conditions are properly evaluated.
Incoloy 020 Corrosion Resistance
Incoloy alloy 020 provides excellent resistance to general corrosion in sulfuric acid and useful resistance in phosphoric acid, nitric acid, chloride bearing and aqueous salt environments. Copper improves performance in reducing acids, while chromium supports resistance in oxidizing media.
Molybdenum contributes to resistance against pitting and crevice corrosion, and the nickel rich matrix reduces susceptibility to chloride ion stress corrosion cracking. Niobium stabilization limits chromium carbide precipitation during welding and helps preserve intergranular corrosion resistance. Actual corrosion rates depend on acid concentration, impurities, temperature and flow conditions.
Incoloy 020 Mechanical Properties
In the annealed condition, incoloy alloy 020 typically has a tensile strength of about 90,000 psi (620 MPa), a 0.2% yield strength of about 45,000 psi (300 MPa), and elongation near 40%. Its fully austenitic structure provides good ductility, toughness and formability for conventional hot and cold working.
The alloy is not strengthened by precipitation heat treatment. Cold working can substantially increase yield and tensile strength, although elongation decreases as reduction increases. Reported values are typical and should not replace the requirements of the applicable product standard.
Incoloy 020 Temperature Characteristics
Incoloy alloy 020 retains useful strength, ductility and corrosion resistance at moderate elevated temperatures, but it is primarily a corrosion resistant alloy rather than a high temperature strength grade. Its niobium stabilized austenitic structure helps limit sensitization during thermal exposure.
Hot forming is generally carried out at 1400 to 2150°F (760 to 1175°C), followed by annealing at 1800 to 1850°F (982 to 1010°C) when required. For pressure service, allowable temperature depends on product form, stress, code requirements and corrosive medium. Many code based references use about 1000°F (538°C) as an upper service reference.

You can place your incoloy 020 order by sending your requirements to sales@arialloy.com or submitting an inquiry through our website form. Our sales team will review your request and provide a detailed offer. Once the offer is accepted, send us your PO. We will issue the PI, begin production after receipt of the prepayment, and notify you when the material is finished.
You can rely on our professional sales team for a quick response, with incoloy 020 quotations generally issued within 24 hours. If a quotation cannot be prepared, we will promptly explain this to you.
Our incoloy 020 pricing is based on FOB as standard, so buyers normally nominate the freight forwarder who will handle transportation. We will support the forwarder with all necessary local arrangements. If you would like us to coordinate the shipment, we can do so and confirm the relevant freight expense.
Superalloy prices are closely connected to the cost of their metallic raw materials. Nickel, iron, chromium, copper, and molybdenum are among the metals that can significantly affect the final price, so volatility in these raw material markets can be reflected in alloy quotations.
Our incoloy 020 production includes in house smelting. We have over 30 vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting furnaces, with individual capacities of 50 kg, 200 kg, 1,000 kg, and 5,000 kg. The ability to work with smaller furnaces gives us greater freedom when setting minimum order quantities.
Certainly, an incoloy 020 material test report is supplied before the order is shipped. It contains the applicable material standard, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number as proof of conformity.
We maintain control over incoloy 020 composition by regulating the material mix during melting and conducting chemical tests along the way. Final products are checked by PMI, and independent laboratory analysis is available when customers need further assurance.
