Incoloy 800 Material Properties Overview

As a professional supplier and manufacturer in China, Arialloy supplies competitively priced incoloy 800 products.

Incoloy 800 (UNS N08800 / W.Nr. 1.4876) is an austenitic alloy of nickel, iron, and chromium that combines corrosion resistance, mechanical strength, and stability at elevated temperatures. Its composition contains 30.0% to 35.0% nickel and 19.0% to 23.0% chromium, with at least 39.5% iron and small additions of aluminum and titanium. Carbon content is limited to a maximum of 0.10%. Nickel helps preserve a ductile austenitic structure and improves resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. Chromium contributes to resistance against oxidation and aqueous corrosion, while iron helps limit internal oxidation. The alloy retains an austenitic matrix during prolonged thermal exposure, although carbide precipitation can occur and influence its response to subsequent corrosive conditions.

Conventional hot working, cold forming, machining, and welding processes can be used to fabricate incoloy 800. Its ductility supports forming operations, while cold deformation raises strength and hardness. Heat treatment influences grain size and final mechanical properties, making the specified delivery condition an important part of material selection and production.

Incoloy 800 Corrosion Resistance

Incoloy 800 resists general corrosion in many aqueous environments, including nitric acid under suitable conditions. Its chromium content supports passivation, while nickel improves resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. This resistance does not imply complete immunity.

Exposure to approximately 540°C to 760°C can cause sensitization, increasing susceptibility to intergranular corrosion in certain aggressive media. Performance therefore depends on thermal history as well as solution chemistry and temperature. Resistance to stress corrosion cracking should also be distinguished from resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion.

Incoloy 800 Mechanical Properties

At room temperature, annealed incoloy 800 offers moderate strength and good ductility. Representative data at 25°C show a tensile strength of approximately 590 MPa (85,500 psi) and a 0.2% offset yield strength of approximately 250 MPa (36,200 psi). Cold working increases strength and hardness, while annealing restores ductility for further forming.

Actual values depend on product form, dimensions, processing history, and heat treatment. These figures are typical reference data and should not be interpreted as guaranteed specification limits.

Incoloy 800 Temperature Characteristics

Incoloy 800 combines resistance to oxidation and carburization with structural stability at elevated temperatures. Its strength and heat resistance support service up to approximately 816°C under suitable conditions, depending on stress, atmosphere, and exposure duration. Its melting range is approximately 1357°C to 1385°C, well above practical operating temperatures.

Strength decreases as temperature rises, and resistance to oxidation alone does not establish an allowable load. Where prolonged loading makes creep and rupture strength decisive, incoloy 800H or incoloy 800HT generally provides better performance.

Once you accept the offer, we will need your PO before issuing the PI. Manufacturing starts after receipt of the prepayment, and we will notify you when the materials are finished.

We generally respond to incoloy 800 inquiries within 24 hours with a detailed quotation. If your inquiry is missing important specifications or cannot be quoted, we will promptly communicate this to you.

We usually quote incoloy 800 on an FOB basis, so customers typically have their own freight forwarder handle the transportation. We will coordinate with that forwarder to complete the local shipping work. If you would like us to handle this part, we can arrange the shipment and check the freight charges.

The final price of incoloy 800 is influenced by the value of the metals that make up the material. Nickel, iron, and chromium are significant cost factors in superalloys. As their market prices fluctuate, the cost of the alloy can also vary.

Incoloy 800 is melted under our own production system. Our factory has a fleet of more than 30 vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting furnaces in four capacity ranges. By selecting equipment appropriate to the order volume, we can efficiently accommodate smaller batches and MOQs.

Certainly. Our incoloy 800 test documentation is completed before shipment and follows applicable industry standards. It details the material standard, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number.

Throughout incoloy 800 melting, we carefully control the proportions of the materials and analyze the chemistry to ensure composition remains monitored. The finished product is then subjected to PMI, and external laboratory analysis can be provided when requested.
