Inconel 693 Material Properties Overview

As a leading supplier and manufacturer in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective inconel 693 products.

Inconel alloy 693 (UNS N06693) is a single phase nickel chromium iron aluminum alloy with a niobium addition that provides resistance to severe high temperature corrosion. Its typical composition contains about 60.5% nickel, 29% chromium, 3.1% aluminum, and 0.7% niobium, with iron forming most of the balance. Chromium supports oxide protection against oxidation and sulfidation, while aluminum improves resistance to carburization and metal dusting.

Niobium contributes to high temperature strength and structural stability. Inconel alloy 693 is supplied in the annealed condition as plate, sheet, bar, rod, wire, pipe, tube, and custom fabricated products, with dimensions, tolerances, standards, heat treatment, surface condition, and inspection documents specified for each order. The alloy can be fabricated by conventional methods, and its forming and machining characteristics are similar to inconel 600 and inconel 690.

Inconel 693 Corrosion Resistance

Inconel alloy 693 offers strong resistance to high temperature corrosion, particularly metal dusting, a severe form of carburization caused by carbon bearing reducing gases. High chromium supports a protective chromia scale against oxidation and sulfidation in oxidizing and reducing sulfur atmospheres.

Aluminum promotes an alumina rich layer that limits carbon ingress and improves resistance to carburization and metal dusting. The alloy also resists oxidation in moist air and performs well in oxide rich media at elevated temperatures. Actual performance depends on temperature, gas composition, carbon activity, sulfur potential, exposure time, surface condition, and thermal history.

Inconel 693 Mechanical Properties

Inconel alloy 693 provides high room temperature tensile strength and useful ductility in annealed product forms. Hot rolled and annealed plate has a nominal tensile strength of 128 ksi (882.6 MPa), a 0.2% yield strength of 71 ksi (489.5 MPa), and 45% elongation. Cold drawn and annealed tubing has 136 ksi (937.7 MPa) tensile strength, 77 ksi (530.9 MPa) yield strength, and 42% elongation. The alloy also provides tensile and creep rupture strength at elevated temperatures from 1200 to 1800°F (649 to 982°C).

Inconel 693 Temperature Characteristics

Inconel alloy 693 combines high temperature strength with resistance to oxidation and corrosive attack. It resists oxidation in air to approximately 1200°C (2192°F) and also performs well in moist air. Carburization resistance has been demonstrated in hydrogen, methane, and carbon dioxide at 1000°C (1832°F). Creep rupture data are reported from 649 to 982°C (1200 to 1800°F), while thermal stability is commonly evaluated from 538 to 760°C (1000 to 1400°F).

Extended exposure in this intermediate range can promote second phase precipitation and reduce ductility and impact properties, so heat treatment, cooling rate, and temperature history should be reviewed together when establishing allowable conditions.

Because alloys are made by combining several metals, their prices are affected by the market value of those individual metals. In superalloys, nickel, chromium, and aluminum are particularly important price components, so movements in their costs can have a considerable impact on alloy pricing.

We undertake the complete smelting operation for inconel 693 internally. With over 30 vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting furnaces at our factory, we can work with batch sizes of 50 kg, 200 kg, 1,000 kg, or 5,000 kg. This flexibility directly supports our ability to accept smaller quantities.

Certainly, we provide the applicable test report for inconel 693 before shipment. It records the standard to which the material conforms, along with its chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number.

We control the inconel 693 charge composition during smelting and use chemical analysis to track any variation in alloy chemistry. Finished material is subsequently verified by PMI, and third-party laboratory testing can be arranged for final chemical confirmation.
