Incoloy 25-6HN Chemical Composition
Incoloy 256HN Material Properties Overview
As a leading supplier and manufacturer in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective incoloy 25-6HN products. Incoloy 25-6HN, UNS N08367, is a nitrogen strengthened 6% molybdenum super austenitic stainless steel that combines strong corrosion resistance, higher strength than conventional austenitic stainless steels and good thermal stability.
Its chromium content supports a stable passive surface, while molybdenum and nitrogen increase resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride and acid halide media. The high nickel content improves austenitic stability and resistance to chloride induced stress corrosion cracking. Nitrogen also provides solid solution strengthening, giving the alloy a useful balance of tensile strength, yield strength, ductility and toughness. Typical annealed material reaches about 744 MPa tensile strength, 381 MPa yield strength and 48% elongation. As temperature rises, the alloy retains substantial tensile strength, with values around 579 MPa at 427°C and 552 MPa at 538°C.
This combination of localized corrosion resistance, mechanical strength and stable elevated temperature behavior gives incoloy 25-6HN a balanced material profile. Arialloy recommends incoloy 25-6HN for customers who prioritize chloride corrosion resistance together with strength, ductility and dependable thermal stability.
Incoloy 25-6HN Corrosion Resistance
Incoloy 25-6HN offers strong resistance to general corrosion, pitting, crevice corrosion and chloride induced stress corrosion cracking.
Its 6% molybdenum and nitrogen content provide high resistance to localized attack, while about 25% nickel improves stability in chloride rich media. Chromium supports a durable passive surface and broad resistance to oxidizing environments. The alloy also performs well in sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, mixed acid and acid halide media. Its pitting resistance equivalent number is about 48, with an ASTM G48 critical pitting temperature of about 75°C.
Incoloy 256HN Mechanical Properties
Nitrogen strengthened incoloy 25-6HN combines higher strength than conventional austenitic stainless steels with high ductility.
Typical annealed material provides tensile strength around 744 MPa, 0.2% yield strength around 381 MPa and elongation near 48%, together with hardness around 90 HRB. Its fully austenitic structure supports good toughness and forming behavior. Nitrogen provides effective solid solution strengthening, while molybdenum also contributes to strength and structural stability. Cold working can raise tensile and yield strength substantially and gives the alloy strong work hardening response.
Incoloy 25-6HN Temperature Characteristics
Incoloy 25-6HN combines a stable austenitic structure with useful strength retention as temperature rises. Its high nickel content supports thermal stability and helps maintain the stability of the austenitic matrix.
Typical tensile strength remains about 641 MPa at 149°C, 614 MPa at 204°C, 600 MPa at 316°C, 579 MPa at 427°C and 552 MPa at 538°C. Thermal expansion increases gradually with temperature, while the alloy retains a consistent combination of strength and structural stability. Its melting range is approximately 1320 to 1400°C.
