Incoloy 832 Material Properties Overview
As a manufacturer and supplier in China, Arialloy supplies cost effective incoloy 832 products.
Incoloy 832 is an iron based stainless alloy containing chromium and nickel, combining corrosion resistance, thermal stability, and good fabrication properties. Its nominal composition includes approximately 20% chromium and 14% nickel, with iron forming the principal balance. Chromium promotes the formation of a protective surface oxide film, while nickel contributes to the alloy’s metallurgical characteristics and ductility. Its lower nickel content compared with incoloy 800 and incoloy 840 provides a more economical material composition while retaining the principal characteristics of a heat resistant stainless alloy.
The alloy exhibits good resistance to pitting and hot salt corrosion. Its composition supports the formation of a protective oxide layer with an attractive surface appearance. This surface film is an important part of the material’s resistance to oxidation during heating. Thermal stability further complements its corrosion resistance and contributes to its overall performance at elevated temperatures.A density of approximately 7.75 g/cm³ accompanies this balance of mechanical properties, thermal characteristics, and economical alloy content.
Incoloy 832 Corrosion Resistance
Incoloy 832 offers good resistance to pitting and hot salt corrosion. Its chromium content promotes a protective surface oxide film that separates the underlying metal from the surrounding environment and slows further oxidation. The alloy’s composition combines this surface protection with resistance to localized corrosive attack.
The formation of a protective oxide film is a central feature of its corrosion behavior. Together with thermal stability, this characteristic gives incoloy 832 a useful combination of resistance to salt related attack and oxidation during heating.
Incoloy 832 Mechanical Properties
Incoloy 832 combines strength with good ductility and ready formability. Room temperature tensile strength is reported at approximately 762 MPa. Measurements on 0.50 mm strip show a 0.2% offset yield strength of 364 MPa and elongation of 37.5%, illustrating its balance of resistance to deformation and capacity for plastic strain.
The alloy accommodates forming operations and offers excellent weldability. These fabrication characteristics support the production of formed and welded material, particularly through continuous strip processing.
Incoloy 832 Temperature Characteristics
Incoloy 832 exhibits excellent thermal stability and forms a protective surface oxide during heating. Its thermal conductivity increases from approximately 14.2 W/(m·K) at 23°C to 24.2 W/(m·K) at 700°C, allowing heat to pass through the material more readily as temperature rises.
The linear thermal expansion coefficient is approximately 16.6 µm/(m·°C) at 100°C. Specific heat capacity also increases with temperature, rising from approximately 472 J/(kg·K) at 23°C to 597 J/(kg·K) at 700°C, reflecting an increasing capacity to absorb heat per degree of temperature change.

We generally work with FOB terms for incoloy 832 quotations. Under this arrangement, the customer usually selects the freight forwarder, and we cooperate with them on the local side. If you need us to arrange shipping instead, we can coordinate the transportation and obtain the relevant cost.
Incoloy 832 prices can change when the prices of its underlying metals change. The alloy’s cost is influenced by several metallic elements, with nickel, iron, chromium, and silicon being important contributors. Significant movements in these raw material prices can therefore affect the finished product price.
We manufacture the incoloy 832 melt ourselves with equipment installed at our own plant. Our furnace inventory exceeds 30 units and includes both vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting systems. Capacities of 50 kg, 200 kg, 1,000 kg, and 5,000 kg allow us to support varied batch requirements and smaller MOQs.
Our incoloy 832 material test reports are issued before dispatch and follow the relevant industry standards. They provide essential details covering material specification, chemistry, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number.
The incoloy 832 melt is produced under controlled material proportions, while chemical analysis is used to monitor composition throughout the process. Final PMI testing is conducted after production, with independent laboratory analysis available upon request.
