Hastelloy G-30 Material Properties Overview
As a manufacturer and supplier in China, Arialloy supplies competitively priced hastelloy G30 products.
Hastelloy G30 (UNS N06030 / W.Nr. 2.4603) is a nickel alloy containing substantial chromium and iron, together with molybdenum, tungsten and copper. Its nominal composition includes approximately 30% chromium, 15% iron, 5.5% molybdenum, 2.5% tungsten and 2% copper, with nickel forming the balance. The high chromium content supports strong resistance to oxidizing acids, particularly nitric acid and mixtures containing nitric acid. Molybdenum and copper contribute resistance to reducing media, although performance in hydrochloric and sulfuric acids depends on concentration and temperature. A defining characteristic of the alloy is its excellent resistance to phosphoric acid produced by the wet process, where impurities, including residual sulfuric acid and dissolved salts, can substantially influence the severity of corrosion.
The alloy combines good formability with compatibility with common arc welding methods, including TIG, MIG and shielded metal arc welding. Suitable matching filler metals are available for joining G30. Weld performance depends on the acid chemistry, and certain nitric acid mixtures containing hydrofluoric acid may require additional consideration of filler selection and heat treatment.
Available standard product forms include sheet, plate, strip, bar, wire, pipe and tube, with the material generally supplied in the solution annealed condition.
Hastelloy G30 Corrosion Resistance
Hastelloy G30 offers excellent resistance to wet process phosphoric acid and strongly oxidizing acid mixtures. It also provides better resistance to chloride induced stress corrosion cracking than common austenitic stainless steels under comparable test conditions.
Resistance to hydrochloric and sulfuric acids is moderate and depends on solution conditions. Protection against chloride induced pitting and crevice corrosion is also moderate. Acid concentration, temperature and impurities must therefore be considered together, since phosphoric acids from different sources can produce different corrosion rates even at the same concentration.
Hastelloy G-30 Mechanical Properties
In the solution annealed condition, hastelloy G30 sheet, plate and bar typically exhibit room temperature tensile strengths of 676 to 689 MPa (98,000 to 100,000 psi) and 0.2% offset yield strengths of 310 to 352 MPa (45,000 to 51,000 psi). Elongations of 55 to 65% indicate substantial ductility, while cold working increases strength and hardness.
These reported values are typical. Acceptance requirements depend on the applicable product specification, material dimensions, delivery condition and the agreed purchase requirements.
Hastelloy G30 Temperature Characteristics
Hastelloy G30 retains substantial ductility as temperature increases, while tensile and yield strengths gradually decrease. At 538°C (1000°F), typical plate and bar test results show a tensile strength of 524 MPa, a yield strength of 200 MPa and 62% elongation. These are short duration tensile results, not a continuous service temperature rating.
Solution annealing is normally performed at 1177°C (2150°F), followed by rapid cooling. Prolonged thermal exposure to certain elevated temperatures can promote precipitation and alter corrosion resistance, making thermal history an important practical consideration.

The price of an alloy can rise or fall along with the cost of its key metallic inputs. Nickel, chromium, molybdenum, and iron and other alloying metals are important components of superalloy costs, so changes in their market prices can affect hastelloy g30 quotations.
Our hastelloy g30 is produced using in house melting equipment rather than relying entirely on purchased material. The factory has over 30 vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting furnaces in different capacities. By using the right furnace for the job, we can support smaller MOQs.
Our hastelloy g30 MTR documentation is supplied before dispatch and provides full traceability of the material. It identifies the standard, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number to support compliance confirmation.
During hastelloy g30 production, we control the material proportions and monitor chemistry through chemical analysis. The finished material is subsequently checked using PMI, and we can use a third party laboratory for final chemical analysis when additional verification is required.
