Hastelloy C-22HS (UNS N07022) is a nickel based chromium and molybdenum alloy that combines strong corrosion resistance with substantial strengthening capability. Its nominal composition contains approximately 61% nickel, 21% chromium and 17% molybdenum. Chromium supports protective surface film formation in oxidizing solutions, while molybdenum improves resistance to reducing acids and localized corrosion. Low carbon and silicon contents help limit detrimental precipitation during fabrication. In the solution annealed condition, the alloy has an austenitic matrix and good ductility. Subsequent aging promotes the formation of fine, ordered Ni₂(Mo,Cr) particles within the matrix, increasing strength through an ordering reaction. This response gives hastelloy C-22HS a distinctive combination of corrosion resistance and adjustable mechanical properties.
Cold working provides another route to higher strength, with the final properties depending on deformation level and product dimensions. The alloy can be formed and welded using suitable procedures, including gas tungsten arc and gas metal arc welding. Welding and subsequent heat treatment require consideration of the intended final material condition.
Arialloy available product forms include plate, sheet, strip, bar, wire, pipe and tube, with the delivery condition selected to match specified strength and fabrication requirements.
Hastelloy C-22HS Corrosion Resistance
Hastelloy C-22HS offers resistance to both oxidizing and reducing acids, together with resistance to chloride induced pitting and crevice corrosion. Its corrosion behavior depends on acid concentration, temperature and metallurgical condition.
Cold worked material also demonstrates strong resistance to cracking in environments containing hydrogen sulfide and concentrated chlorides. Its chromium and molybdenum contents support resistance across a range of acidic solutions. However, additional aging after heavy cold work can increase susceptibility to hydrogen embrittlement in severe sour environments, making the final processing condition particularly important.
Hastelloy C22HS Mechanical Properties
At room temperature, solution annealed and aged hastelloy C-22HS typically reaches a yield strength of approximately 100,000 psi (690 MPa). Bar cold worked by 43% to 47% shows average yield and tensile strengths of 198,000 psi (1365 MPa) and 203,500 psi (1403 MPa), respectively, with 16.7% elongation.
Hastelloy C-22HS Temperature Characteristics
Hastelloy C-22HS retains high strength at moderately elevated temperatures, although properties vary with processing condition. Bar with 43% cold work retained a yield strength of 186,600 psi (1287 MPa) and 13.4% elongation when tested at 500°F (260°C) after 8,000 hours of exposure at that temperature.
These results demonstrate strength retention under the stated conditions. Performance at higher temperatures requires separate evaluation of strength, ductility and corrosion resistance. Thermal exposure, applied stress and the corrosive environment together determine the suitability of a particular material condition.

To arrange an hastelloy c22hs purchase, submit your requirements to sales@arialloy.com or fill out the inquiry form at the bottom of the page. Our sales team will send you a detailed quote. Once you accept the quote, send your PO. We will issue the PI for payment and commence production after the prepayment is received. We will notify you as soon as the materials are ready.
We normally respond to hastelloy c22hs inquiries within 24 hours, either with the requested quotation or with a request for any missing information. If the inquiry cannot be quoted, we will notify you promptly.
Our standard hastelloy c22hs offer is FOB, so the usual practice is for customers to nominate a freight forwarder for the shipment. We will assist the forwarder with the required local handling. If you prefer us to take care of transportation, we can arrange it and provide the relevant freight quotation.

Our factory operates over 30 furnaces for vacuum smelting and electroslag remelting, with capacities of 50 kg, 200 kg, 1,000 kg, and 5,000 kg. This gives us the flexibility to accept smaller production quantities.
Yes, our pre shipment quality documents for hastelloy c22hs include the relevant material test report. It provides the standard, chemical composition, mechanical properties, dimensions, and heat number for compliance verification.
Hastelloy C-22HS undergoes composition monitoring throughout the smelting process, supported by strict control of material ratios. Once finished, PMI testing is performed, and third party laboratory chemical analysis can be arranged for additional assurance.
